Voting terms and privacy
These terms cover voting, nominations and applications for the Transform Africa Leadership Award (TALA) and ZOE Pageant Africa, both run by Stay Focus Family, Calabar, Nigeria.
Voting terms
Merit votes (TALA, free)
- Each person may cast one vote in each Merit category, confirmed with a code sent to their email address.
- A vote cannot be changed once it is cast.
- Creating multiple email addresses to vote more than once is not allowed. Votes we find to be from fake or throwaway accounts may be removed.
Paid votes (TALA Popularity categories and ZOE)
- The price per vote is shown on the vote page before you pay. There is no limit to how many votes you can buy.
- Payments are processed by Paystack. We never see or store your card details.
- Votes are added once Paystack confirms the payment. This is usually immediate. If your votes do not appear within one hour, contact us with the payment reference on your Paystack receipt.
- Votes are counted for the nominee or contestant you chose at checkout and cannot be moved to someone else.
General
- Stay Focus Family may open, pause or close voting, and may show or hide live counts, at its discretion.
- Any attempt to manipulate results, including automated voting or payment fraud, will lead to the affected votes being removed and may lead to disqualification of the nominee or contestant who benefits.
- If a nominee or contestant withdraws or is disqualified, votes already paid for them are not transferred.
Refunds
Paid votes are final and are not refundable once they have been counted. If you were charged but no votes were added, or you were charged twice for the same checkout, contact us within 14 days with your payment reference and we will either add the votes or refund the duplicate charge.
Privacy
What we collect
- Voters: email address (to confirm Merit votes and to send Paystack receipts) and, optionally, your name.
- Nominations: details about the nominee and about you as the nominator.
- ZOE applications: the details and photos on the application form, including a parent or guardian's contact for applicants under 18.
How we use it
- To run the awards and the pageant: counting votes, reviewing nominations and applications, and contacting you about them.
- If you are selected as a ZOE contestant or TALA nominee, your name, photo and the information you agreed to share will be shown publicly on this site and in our promotion.
- We do not sell your information. We share it only with the services that run this site: Supabase (database and storage) and Paystack (payments).
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information at any time. Applicant photos and details of applicants who are not selected are deleted after the pageant ends.
